Farm to Food
Relief Program

Through our Farm to Food Relief Program, we donate locally grown food whenever funding allows, providing our most vulnerable neighbors with access to fresh local produce when possible.

This is not a food rescue or gleaning operation. We pay farmers for what we purchase and work to ensure a reliable supply of locally grown food reaches community members who access food through emergency food relief.

The Farm to Food Relief Program serves two purposes at once: it creates a consistent, paid market channel for local farm partners, and it puts fresh, Southcoast-grown food in the hands of community members who rely on food relief organizations across the region.

From 2022-2025, through the federal Local Food Purchasing Assistance (LFPA) Program, we secured over $1 million to directly purchase local food from dozens of farm partners that was then distributed  in partnership with PACE, Damien’s Food Pantry, the United Way of Greater New Bedford’s Hunger Commission, and Round the Bend Farm’s Manifest Love program.

The feedback when LFPA items are out is amazing. Everything is fresh and looks fantastic. It allows some clients to try things they wouldn’t get the opportunity to try. We do let them know items come from local farmers and the response has been tremendous.
