In partnership with Dartmouth Natural Resources Trust (DNRT) and the Westport Land Conservation Trust, we are hosting renowned author and speaker, Robin Wall Kimmerer to discuss her book The Serviceberry: Abundance and Reciprocity in the Natural World. The speaking engagement will take place on October 2, 2026 at 5:30pm at Weatherlow Farms in Westport, Massachusetts.
The goal of this event is to raise awareness around the importance of supporting and preserving local farm economies and local food systems. Any proceeds from the event will support our work to build a stronger, more resilient, and more equitable local food system.
About Robin Wall Kimmerer
As written in her author biography, Ms. Kimmerer is a SUNY Distinguished Teaching Professor of Environmental Biology, and the founder and director of the Center for Native Peoples and the Environment, whose mission is to create programs which draw on the wisdom of both indigenous and scientific knowledge for our shared goals of sustainability. In 2022 she was named a MacArthur Fellow. Ms. Kimmerer is also an enrolled member of the Citizen Potawatomi Nation.
DNRT’s mission is to preserve and protect Dartmouth’s natural resources for people and nature, forever. They work toward this mission through land acquisition and protection, land management, outreach and education, and collaborative partnerships. DNRT has protected over 5,700 acres of natural areas and farmland in Dartmouth.
The Westport Conservation Land Trust is committed to preserving Westport’s rural character, stewarding the land for habitat, people, and climate resiliency, and connecting people of all ages and backgrounds to the land. For more than 50 years, the Land Trust has protected thousands of acres of land and owns 1,600 acres of land for public enjoyment and wildlife benefit.
