COVID-19 CHANGES IN PROGRAMMING

Now Offering Delivery, Pick-Up, and Walk-in Drive-Thru Options at Coastal Foodshed!

Coastal Foodshed’s mission is to make it easier for people to buy local food and for farmers to sell it to the community. We accomplish this mission through our three programs: New Bedford Farmers Markets (NBFM), Mobile Farm Stands (MFS), and Learn to Love Local (LLL) cooking education. Now more than ever, our mission is so critical.  We are committed to our SNAP/EBT customers and providing them the ability to purchase local produce with their Healthy Incentive Program (HIP) benefits (learn more about the program here). We are striving to keep our operations open during the pandemic for the sake of the farmers and producers who rely on it for business and to keep fresh, local food accessible when it's needed most.  With that being said, we have made some changes to the following programs to protect Coastal Foodshed staff, NBFM vendors and shoppers and help slow the spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19):

VIRTUAL NEW BEDFORD FARMERS MARKET

We will be closing our weekly indoor New Bedford Farmers Markets at the NB First Unitarian Church on Saturdays 10-2pm and moving it to an online ordering system, called WhatsGood

We will not physically be hosting our farmers market, instead we will be hosting a virtual farmers market. Customers will be able to purchase from vendors through this online ordering system (details below). Customers can choose from delivery or pick-up options.

  • Delivery: Wednesdays 12-5pm
  • Pick-Up: Wednesdays 2-5pm at Coastal Foodshed's Offices 466 Brock in Ave New Bedford
  • Delivery: Area: New Bedford, Dartmouth, Fairhaven, Acushnet
  • Credit/Debit accepted only
  • Read our FAQ's here to learn more!

We still plan on hosting all three of our outdoor farmers markets, and will implement safety and health procedures as the COVID-19 situation evolves.

MOBILE FARM STAND:

Walk-in Drive Thru

We have closed 2 of our 3 weekly indoor MFS sites. Instead, we are hosting a "walk-in drive-thru". Customers order on-site and staff packs their order, payments are made on site.

  • Every Thursday 12-5pm at 466 Brock Ave: Customers are not permitted inside. at this time, but instead can view products through our "window farm stand display." Staff will collect orders and pack on-site and bring it out to customers and process payments outside at check-out table.
  • SNAP/HIP, Credit/Debit, Cash and Check accepted ONLY ON THURSDAYS

Our Mobile Farm Stand will also be a vendor via the virtual New Bedford Farmers Markets on the WhatsGood app (Debit/Credit Only Accepted via online)

A Note About SNAP/HIP

Currently, in MA, it is not legal for SNAP customers to pay online. To continue providing an outlet for our SNAP/EBT customers to utilize their HIP benefits, we will open our 466 Brock Ave Offices on Thursday 12-5pm as a pick up location (open for everyone, including SNAP). SNAP/HIP can not be used through WhatsGood.

We will continue to advocate to our state legislators who are currently working to make SNAP online purchases possible!

Learn to Love Local:

Online Cooking Education

All on-site LLL cooking demonstrations and tastings have been postponed until further notice. Instead, we will be conducting a mixture of recorded and/or live online cooking videos to highlight the produce and products we will be available through our Mobile Farm Stand COVID-19 program. Stay tuned for more details!
